Most event video means one locked-off camera at the back of the room. At Velvet Edge, live event video production is a full broadcast: multiple 4K cameras positioned around your venue and cut together in real time by a technical director, so your audience always sees the right shot at the right moment. A wide establishing view of the stage, a tight close-up on the speaker's face, a side angle on the panel, the audience reaction are all mixed live, the way a televised broadcast is produced. Whether you are running a corporate keynote in downtown Windsor, an awards gala, a municipal celebration or a hybrid conference streamed to a national audience, we build the coverage around your run of show so the story on screen matches the story in the room.
We shoot on professional 4K PTZ cameras. PTZ stands for pan, tilt and zoom. The whole camera is driven by remote control, so an operator can reframe a shot, follow a presenter across the stage or push in for a close-up without anyone standing behind a tripod in your audience's sightline. Each camera pairs a 4K UHD sensor with a powerful image processor and a 20x optical zoom lens, capturing sharp, true-to-life images from the back of a large ballroom right down to a detailed close-up. Hybrid autofocus keeps presenters crisp even in the low, moody lighting of a gala or stage show, and the pan-and-tilt movement is smooth and silent enough to run while it is live on screen. Because the cameras are compact and discreet, we can place them where a full camera crew simply would not fit; flanking the stage, up on a balcony, or tucked tight to the action.
Multiple cameras mean multiple perspectives, and our team switches between them live. A typical setup gives you a locked wide shot of the full stage, a close-up camera trained on the podium or presenter, and one or more roaming angles for panels, performers, audience reactions or product reveals. Our technical director cuts between these feeds in real time on a live vision switcher, the same live switching used in television production, so there are no awkward jumps and no dead air. Need a picture-in-picture of a remote presenter, a split screen for a panel discussion, or a slow push-in during an emotional moment? It all happens live, as it unfolds.
Beyond straight camera coverage, we can layer graphics and effects into the live picture. Using green-screen technology (also called chroma keying), we can drop your presenters onto a custom background; a branded stage set, a virtual environment, your event theme or a sponsor's world without building a single physical set piece. We also add animated on-screen graphics: lower-third name and title bars, animated logos and sponsor bugs, live titles, countdown timers, scoreboards and motion backgrounds. These are the finishing touches that make a live stream or an in-room screen look like a produced broadcast instead of a webcam feed.
Everything we capture can be streamed live to wherever your audience is. Our cameras and switching system run on professional broadcast protocols including NDI, SRT and RTMP for a clean, reliable, low-latency feed out to YouTube, Facebook, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Vimeo or a private platform of your choosing. For hybrid events, in-room guests and remote viewers see the same polished multi-camera production at the same time. We test the stream end to end before your doors open, so going live is a non-event, exactly as it should be.
The same live production can be sent straight to the screens in your venue so even guests at the back tables get a front-row view. Known in the industry as IMAG (image magnification), this pairs perfectly with our LED video walls and projection displays as one integrated team handling the cameras, switching, graphics and the screens they play on, instead of three vendors pointing fingers.
Live video is unforgiving and there is no second take when the room is full and the stream is running. Our crew is on-site from load-in through load-out, running the cameras, the switcher and the stream, and staying calm when the schedule shifts, as it always does. This is production, not equipment drop-off. We handle conferences and leadership summits, keynote presentations, awards nights and galas, municipal and festival events, product launches and brand activations, weddings and milestone celebrations, and webinars and hybrid broadcasts or anywhere the video needs to look genuinely professional.
Velvet Edge provides multi-camera live event video production and streaming throughout Windsor, Essex County and the broader Southwest Ontario region including Kingsville, Amherstburg, Leamington, Essex, Lakeshore, Tecumseh and LaSalle, and out to Toronto for larger productions.
